The student managed to perform well in the national exams despite battling cancer which saw her miss school for nearly one year.

Akinyi thanked God for the marks that she managed to score, however, noting that she performed better while in school.

“While in school, I would always score above 340 marks but I managed to score 301 in the KCPE exam. I thank God for the marks that he has given me,” Akinyi said.

She now hopes to join Pangani Girls’ High School in Nairobi and pursue a career in medicine in future.
