Kalonzo Likely To Return to Azimio after Pressure from Wiper Party

Wiper Party have resolved to work with the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition but under a structured dialogue.

The party made the announcement on Monday, May 23 following a meeting between party officials at Stoni Athi in Machakos County.

“What is for sure is that we cannot work with the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, that’s out of the question,” Wiper party organizing secretary Robert Mbui said.

However, the party warned that should the offer table by Azimio be dismal, they will back off and support party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidential bid.

They argued that Wiper can be useful in the Azimio government in any position.

“We want to be part of the new Kenya going forward but we need structured discussions as what is being offered are only in the media

“We want Azimio to know that the issue is about Wiper as a party, and not Kalonzo as people have made it to be,” Mbui added.

This comes a week after Kalonzo announced that he would be running for the Presidency in the August 9 poll.

Kalonzo stated that he had decided to run after being shortchanged by the Azimio coalition where he had sought to become Raila Odinga’s running mate.

“My brother Raila knows I am naming my running mate. He came to my house to try and convince me to accept his choice. We did not agree and he said he would choose Martha and I told him I would choose my own running mate,” he said.

The former Vice President also unveiled Andrew Sunkuli, a prominent businessman as his running mate.
