Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka hosted President Uhuru Kenyatta and KANU leader Gideon Moi at his Karen residence in Nairobi.
The meeting comes days after Kalonzo shelved his presidential ambition to support the Azimio la Umoja candidate, Raila Odinga, in his bid to succeed Uhuru in the August 9 General Election.
The trio did divulge the nitty gritties of the Saturday, March 19, meeting, but being a political season, they must have discussed the strategies that will ensure Raila, their candidate, clinches the top seat.
Political pundits weighed that Uhuru might have visited Kalonzo to appreciate him for accepting to back Raila for a record third time.
It is worth mentioning that the head of state officially declared his unwavering support for the former premier’s presidential bid and has been traversing the country campaigning for him.
The ODM leader was not part of the trio’s meeting as he is still in the United Kingdom on his five-day working tour.
After the meeting, Kalonzo took to Facebook insisting that he was fully behind Raila’s presidential bid under the Azimio-OKA coalition.
“We are Azimio – One Kenya and we will fully support the candidature of Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga for the presidency in the forthcoming August General Election,” said Kalonzo.
The meeting elicited mixed reactions on social media.
John Mwangi said: “Uhuru Kenyatta has succeeded in sending you to retirement. Mark my words Gideon will be Azimio’s running mate.”
George Mbiji said: “Senior counsel you are now a statesman. I gave you a standing ovation when you said the country is bigger than an individual. You have now inherited us as Luo voters.”
Omechi Solomon said: You’re still daydreaming, there’s nothing like Azimio -OKA. It is Azimio La Umoja the registrar of political parties was very clear on this.”
Kilundu Sky said: “I like the way Kalonzo is playing his cards, you are on the right path.”
Kiptum Jairus said:” You had at earlier warned Uhuru about Raila, surprisingly recently you endorsed him as the president. The person who named you watermelon was actually right.”
