Kalonzo Explains Why He’s Dissatisfied With Latest Agreement With Raila

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has lamented over the agreement that parties affiliated with Azimio la Umoja coalition signed at KICC, Nairobi.

The agreement in question was signed during the coronation of ODM leader Raila Odinga as the presidential candidate of Azimio la Umoja.

Speaking during an interview Monday, March 14, Kalonzo said he has doubts about the contents of the agreement, noting that during the meeting, party officials were hurriedly instructed to sign the documents.

“If I asked all those party secretary-generals present SGs what they affixed their signatures to, nobody knows,” he said in an interview with KTN News.

The former Vice President stated that ODM Director of Elections Junet Muhammed presented parties with a document proposing Raila as the coalition’s presidential candidate.

Kalonzo noted that Wiper refused to sign the agreement stating that he would need to consult his One Kenya Alliance (OKA) co-principals and lawyers.

“I still want to have a meeting with my fellow principals and our lawyers, including myself to reflect on that technicality,” he said.

On Saturday, March 12, 26 political parties signed the coalition agreement committing to work with Azimio la Umoja ahead of the August 9 polls.

Speaking during the meeting, President Uhuru Kenyatta said all the leaders that had gathered at the event were capable of vying for the top seat and they will be included in Raila’s administration.

“There are those who are more abled like Kalonzo but he has put his ambitions aside. Let us all clap for him. We thank him

“We are here to announce our team captain. We have no doubt we have a team leader. We have a team leader in the name Raila Odinga,” he said.

On his side, Raila thanked Kalonzo for agreeing to work with him.

“Kalonzo and I had some problems but we have discussed and shook hands. We have decided we will walk together. I am not Uhuru’s project and he is not my project,” he said.
