I’m in Tanga Tanga to stay – MP Aisha Jumwa dismisses reports of ditching DP Ruto

Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has refuted claims she has ditched Deputy President William Ruto’s camp and joined the Kieleweke faction of Jubilee.

Further, the Malindi legislator denied endorsing ODM Kibra hopeful Imran Okoth.

On Tuesday afternoon, the legislator rose to the top of social media trends after ODM’s Director of Communication Philip Etale posted picture of the Jumwa with Raila and Okoth adding that the fiery legislator had ditched Tanga Tanga movement.

“Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa today officially ditched Team Tangatanga and vowed to vigorously campaign for Bernard Okoth Imran for the Kibra Parliamentary Seat. She attended the party Parliamentary Group meeting at County Hall chaired by Party Leader H.E. Raila Odinga. Imran was also introduced to the members,” Etale had written on Facebook.

The message quickly went viral with Kieleweke bloggers taking the opportunity to slam their Tanga Tanga counterparts for the “major loss”

However, in a rejoinder, jumwa confirmed that she had neither ditched Ruto’s camp nor endorsed Imran.

“Rt. Hon. Raila makes a surprise visit to my Parliamentary Service Commission Office this afternoon. This was after he attended the ODM Parliamentary Group meeting at County Hall that I did not attend!” read a message on her Facebook page.

Jumwa endorsed Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga during an Inua Mama rally last week.

Though elected on ODM ticket, Jumwa has been at loggerheads with the party after she declared her open support for Ruto’s 2022 bid.
