Kenya Power customers can now pay for electricity using Safaricom Bonga Points.
This is following a partnership agreement between the Kenya Power and Lighting Company and Safaricom.

On Friday, July 24, the electricity distributor said the move will help at least 7.1 million customers struggling settle their electricity bills due to the financial instability caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new service is available for both prepaid and postpaid customers.
There is no minimum or maximum number of Bonga Points one can settle their bills with.
Customers can redeem their Bonga Points to purchase tokens or pay for their bills at the rate of 20 cents per Bonga Point.
Below is a step by step guide on how to pay for electricity using Bonga Points;
How to buy Kenya Power tokens using Bonga Points
- Dial *126# and select ‘Lipa na Bonga Points’
- Select Pay Bill
- Enter Business number 888888 for postpaid and 888880 for prepaid
- Enter account/ meter number
- Enter amount you want to pay
- Confirm the details of your payment and input your service pin to complete the payment
- You will then receive your tokens immediately you purchase with your Bonga points.
To check how many points you will need to pay for their bill, you will be required to dial *126# select ‘Lipa Na Bonga’, then select ‘Bonga Calculator’.
You will be requested to put in the amount you want to pay, and get a response showing the number of Bonga Points you will need to pay for the bill.
One can also redeem bonga points to purchase electricity tokens for another person.

Once you insert the paybill number, the account number you choose can be of the other person.
