Hilarious Photos from Memes of Polycarp Igathe’s Campaigns in Nairobi

With a two months remaining to the much anticipated August 9 General Elections, politicians are going out of their way to woo voters.

Unlike the past where politicians would mobilize voters to public rallies, in this election period, most politicians are using social media to seek votes.

They use social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook where most young people are active.

On the other hand, politicians have also been hitting the ground and engaging in activities that local people are up-to.

The perfect example of this is Azimio’s Nairobi County gubernatorial seat aspirant Polycarp Igathe who has been engaging Nairobians and trying to fit into their daily lives.

In the recent past the former Equity Group Chief Commercial Officer has been spotted washing cars, tailoring clothes, deejaying events, doing camera work on TV and even serving drinks in night clubs.

Speaking with The Standard, Igathe spoke of his campaign strategy saying;

“People should get used to seeing me because that is how things will be even when I become governor. I will be serving you your menu, not the menu of the chef

“Every pump attendant of every fueling station knows me, every bookshop seller knows me and every customer of Equity Bank who is a micro trader knows me and they are ready to vote for me.”

His campaigning strategy has been a topic online with netizens arguing that he is overworking.

Hedie Sifuna: Feeling sick today, wondering if Polycarp Igathe can cover my shift for tomorrow. I trust no one else.

Muriuki Eugene: If Polycarp Igathe existed 1000 years ago he would have volunteered to die for our sins.

Kanda Tililei: Nairobians beware there is somebody known as Polycarp Igathe he can easily walk into your house as early as 5am to cook breakfast for you and even wash your utensils.

RookieKE: Got to the gym this morning and was told that workouts were cancelled. Polycarp Igathe had worked out for all of us. Sweet!

Igathe will be deputised by the former Kibwezi MP Philip Kaloki in the Nairobi gubernatorial race.

Together, they will be seeking to trounce Senator Johnson Sakaja, who has been fronted by their rivals Kenya Kwanza Alliance, led by Deputy President William Ruto.

Azimio issued a direct ticket to Igathe doing away with party primaries which would have allowed Nairobians to vote for their preferred candidate.

Jubilee which is a member party of Azimio One Kenya coalition had other hopefuls including businessman Richard Ngatia, Agnes Kagure and Governor Ann Kananu.

On the other hand, ODM had cleared Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi to contest for the seat.

However, following a meeting at State House, the four were dropped out of the race and a direct ticket issued to Igathe.
