Christabella Banturaki and Patrick Mbusa Kabagambe we officially to tie the knot on Saturday,April 10 in a public ceremony attended by family and friends.
All the necessities to make the day a success were made; the two were to enjoy their reception at the Silver Springs Hotel in Kampala after wrapping up church service at the All Saints Cathedral Nakasero.
On the wedding eve, Friday,April 9, Mbusa left his wife-to-be weeping after disappearing without trace.
Early in morning of Saturday, a hunt for the groom commenced. Mbusa had switched off his phone and nobody knew his whereabouts.
Everyone who attended the church for the mega ceremony including the groom’s family were shocked after knowing that he was no where to be found.
The bride was frightened, she never wanted to think of anything bad happening to her love of her life. She took the matter to Kasangati Police Station, Wakiso District and investigations kicked off.
Two days later Mbusa reappeared and went to Wandegeya police station reporting that he was not missing.
“He said he was stressed. He didn’t have a reason why he didn’t want to marry Ms Banturaki. We later released him on police bond as investigations continue,” Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police said on Monday, April 12.
Mbusa said that he chose to spend the night of wedding eve at a friends house stating that he already was married to Christabella in a customary marriage.
Officers are waiting for Christabella to record a statement so that they can decide what follows in the case.
