Police were forced to intervene to thwart an attempt to disrupt an “Embrace Kenya” meeting in Garissa Town.
The band of youths briefly engaged riot police officers in running battles as they sought to stop the rally from taking place at Garissa Township grounds.
Police eventually dispersed the youths allowing the meeting to proceed as planned.
The Embrace women league consists of women leaders who support the handshake between Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Early in the week Uhuru Youth and Gender Administrative Secretary Racheal Shebesh lamented the Embrace women were few as compared to Inua Mama which is backing Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 bid.
