Fafi MP Abdikarim Osman causes drama in Matiang’i’s office after Duale asks him to account for KSh 12 million madrassa funds

A brief scuffle ensued in the office of the Ministry of Interior between National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale and Fafi MP Abdikarim Osman on Friday, September 13.

A source at the closed door security meeting attended by others leaders from North Eastern narrated of a tense moment after Duale who is also Garissa Town MP demanded that the Fafi MP come clear on KSh 12 million contributed to build a Madrassa a year ago which the MP is accused of squandering.

It is said Osman had reacted angrily to Duale’s call for accountability to the point of shocking senior government officials who included Interior CS Fred Matiang’i.

“Duale asked him to account for the KSh 12 million contributed a year ago in a fund raiser that was attended by among others the Deputy President.

But the MP reacted angrily to the shock of everyone insisting he was the area MP and such matters should not be discussed in the meeting,” said the source who spoke to on condition of anonymity.

Duale is not the only leader from the area who has raised questions about the funds raised during a fund raiser about a year ago.

About two months ago, Garissa Woman Representative Anab Gur demanded Osman come clear on how the funds were spent.

Gur claimed close to KSh 12 million collected during the fund drive in aid of Madrassa had been squandered by the lawmaker.

“After demand calls to the MP, one of his close associates sent one of the madrassa an amount of KSh 140,000 and another KSh 50,000 through M-Pesa, this amount is not anywhere near what was contributed during the fundraiser,” she claimed.

Abdikarim is said to have acquired immense wealth since he was elected MP  Fafi with critics saying he was channeling development funds to his personal endeavours.
