A prime suspected in the murder of a first year student at Laikipia University has died.
According to reports, the suspect, Ezra Kipkorir Koech succumbed to his injuries on Friday, October 1 at Nyahururu County Referral Hospital where he had been receiving treatment.
The suspected killer was rushed to the facility after being subjected to a mob justice by members of the public after reportedly stabbing Gertrude Chepkoech to death.
The departed student succumbed to injuries which included a deep cut on the throat and another one on the stomach.
“He succumbed to serious head injuries he sustained from the beating. The injuries were very severe,” said hospital administrator Thomas Kiptoo.
According to a witness, the deceased who had travelled from Nakuru had initially visited his girlfriend and they are said to have quarrelled.
Following the altercation, the girl raised alarm accusing her boyfriend of forcing himself into her room forcing the hostel’s management to throw him out.
However, the suspect returned to the hostel on Wednesday, September 29 and eliminated his girlfriend’s roommate using a knife.
At the time of the incident, his suspected girlfriend was writing her examination.
