Another cast of popular Citizen TV drama series, Machachari have come out to plead for help two years after the show came to an end.
In an interview with YouTuber Mungai Eve, Machachari twins, Muthuri and Muthure said life took a toll on them after the show ended in October 2019.
Muthure pleaded with their fans to chip in and offer financial aid and acting gigs, while at the same time disclosing that he is an upcoming musician.
“We are asking for financial support and any acting jobs,” he said.
The two noted that they had no savings by the time the show was cancelled as the money that they earned from the show was used to sort bills at home.
They said their mother was sick at the time and she could not work forcing them to take care of their family hence no savings.
“Our mother was sick and could not work. The money paid fees for us and our sister, rent, catered for food among other bills,” Muthuri said.
Muthure said that their friends started distancing themselves after they exited the show, adding that they also faced insults and criticism from people around them.
“Not everyone around you has good intentions, some of them wanted to take advantage of us. People started disrespecting us. Being famous without money is one of the worst things ever,” he said.
This came days after former The Real Househelps of Kawangware (TRHK) actor Onyi disclosed that he is homeless after losing his job.
In an interview with Mzuka Kibao TV, the actor disclosed that he has been jobless after the show was called off following the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The coronavirus put us in a hard place. Since the pandemic started, work has stopped, and we are not doing anything since then. I love work, but where is that job right now,” Onyi said.
