Magufuli revealed that he was Mkapa’s favourite minister, and that fact landed him in big trouble.

“I remember working with president Benjamin Mkapa, he once termed me as his first aide due to the good work I was doing in the Ministry of Infrastructure Development

“I can never forget the incident because, despite Mkapa’s positive sentiments, it landed me in trouble,” Magufuli said.

After receiving praises from the Head of State, Magufuli said some high-ranking officials started hating him and working towards his downfall.

The departed president was later poisoned, an incident that saw him contemplating quitting but was advised by Mkapa to continued serving.

“I started seeing signs that some high-ranking government ministers started hating me. I was poisoned in Dodoma and almost lost my life

“But due to God’s grace, I escape death. I even though of resigning but Mkapa advised me to continue working,” he said.

In a separate video, Magufuli also noted that he had foreign enemies after he stopped multinational companies from mining gold in the country.

“Our gold is being mined and exported even as our citizens suffer from poverty. The locals are being chased away from locations rich in mineral resources so they can mine and benefit on their own

“When I came into power, I stopped this and asked them to come to the negotiating table, this earned me a lot of enemies,” Magufuli said.

Magufuli died on Wednesday, March 17, from heart-related complications, which he had battling for years.
