Fresh details have indicated that a student who died in Gatanga CCM Secondary School in March 2019 was beaten severely by a senior member of the administrative.
A report by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has indicated that the deceased, Ebbie Noelle Samuels, was badly beaten during evening preps on grounds that her hairstyle was against the school regulations.
The Form 1 student died later that night with the school administration claiming that she died in her sleep after complaining of chest pains during the day.
The school’s deputy principal issued a contradicting account claiming that Ebbie died while receiving treatment at a local hospital, but the hospital said they received a dead body.
The girl was discovered dead after her friends tried to wake her up but she was unresponsive.
According to an autopsy report, the deceased was hit on the forehead with a blunt object that broke her skull leading to internal bleeding.
In a report, the DCI said it has taken over investigations into the matter and it has since interviewed some students of the school and the witnesses.
However, the DCI alleged that there was witness intimidation by the school administration which reportedly engaged key witnesses in the case over the holiday.
“However, they found the school environment intimidating for the witnesses and opted to take their statements once the schools were closed, during the ongoing holiday
“The detectives are also investigating a conspiracy to defeat justice by the school administration, which gave contradictory statements and has been intimidating students,” the DCI said.
