Drama as student escapes from exam room as Maths paper gets tough

Drama ensued at a secondary school in Uasin Gishu County after an unnamed student fled an exam room in the middle of KCSE Mathematics Paper 2 on Tuesday, April 6.

The school principal the ran after the student and eventually caught him near the school fence.

The principal the offered the young man a cup of milk to calm his nerves and persuade him to complete the paper.

“One of our students had to be provided a cup of milk for him to finish the paper. Pray for us all. We’ve seen things,” the principal stated in reference to drama characterising the 2020/2021 exam.

K24 reported that, the principal shared the incident on a whatsapp group stating that the student’s behaviour was not surprising as the student kept demanding for entertainment during the Easter Holiday instead of preparing for the upcoming paper.

“Us who are with them, have no mercy….and when they are unable to solve the Math, we’ll chase and bring them back to finish government investment,” said the principal.

On Tuesday, April 6 detectives led by Machakos DCIO Rhoda Kanyi arrested the ABC Kiseveni Secondary School Principal identified as Betta Mutuku for leaking Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Mathematics Paper 2.

According to a police report, the school head posted the paper on her WhatsApp status on Monday evening,April 5 so that her students can study overnight.

She had posted the KCSE Mathematics paper on her WhatsApp status for her candidates to revise since they were preparing to do the same paper the next day ,” the detective said.
