Drama ensued at Bomet Law Courts after a police officer fired his gun in a bid to stop a suspected fake lawyer from escaping.
According to a report by K24 Digital, the suspect, Benjamin Rono, had appeared before Resident Magistrate Maureen Aduke as a lawyer representing a man in a defilement case.
When it was the turn for the lawyer to take the stage, the magistrate who had been briefed about his legitimacy to practice law set the file aside.
Rono was then questioned by court administrators to establish if he has the required credentials to practice law but he failed to prove that he was a legitimate lawyer.
Drama ensued when the fake lawyer ran away and entered his car before speeding off as he was being whisked to the office.
This forced police officers to fire at a vehicle’s tyre to stop him from fleeing.
He was later arrested and detained at the cells in the court before being transferred to Chebunyo police station where he is face charges of impersonation.
