Deputy President William Ruto has called on Jubilee leaders and supporters to rally behind Jubilee candidate for Kibra seat McDonald Mariga.
In a message he posted on Twitter immediately after President Uhuru endorsed the former Harambee Stars midfielder at State House, the DP said the onus was now on the leaders and supporters to deliver the much needed victory in the November 7 by-election.
“Now that Mariga Jubilee’s Kibra candidate was cleared by IEBC and formally unveiled today by our party leader, it is all systems go. The ball is squarely in the court of all of us leaders serving under President Uhuru, party members & supporters to deliver the seat. Twende kazi jameni,” wrote the DP.
Others in the Kibra by-election race include Amani National Congress’ Eliud Owalo ODM’s Bernard Imran Okoth and Ford-Kenya’s aspirant Khamisi Butichi among other candidates.
The Kibra seat fell vacant following the demise of Ken Okoth who succumbed to cancer in July.
President Uhuru assured Mariga of his support when he met him at State House on Wednesday, September 18 2019.
