DP Ruto Asks Uhuru for Forgiveness, Commits to Accept Poll Results

Deputy President William Ruto has committed to accept election results should he lose in the forthcoming August 9 polls. 

Speaking during the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday morning, May 26, the DP also promised to ensure that there will be peaceful elections. 

“I know there is a lot of anxiety in Kenya as to what will happen with the election, I want to speak on behalf of my team and I and I would like to tell the people of kenya that we will do everything possible within our power to make sure that the elections are peaceful,”DP Ruto said. 

DP Ruto maintained that he will concede defeat should he loose the presidential elections to Azimio One Kenya coalition’s Raila Odinga. 

He said whoever will win the polls will be the will of God expressed through the people of Kenya. 

“I also want to tell the people of Kenya that we believe we have the best team… I believe that whoever will be elected in this election it will be the will of God and we will respect the will of God as expressed by the will of the people of Kenya 

“That is my commitment on behalf of myself and my team and I’m sure as Martha has said, they too beleive in that,” he said. 

 DP Ruto also asked for forgiveness from his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta noting that he may have fallen out with the Head of State, which has made it difficult for them to work together. 

“I also know that serving as the Deputy President, I may have fallen short of expectations of my boss His Excellency the President my good friend, I ask for your forgiveness,” DP Ruto pleaded. 

He also thanked Uhuru for choosing him to serve as his deputy. 

“I have had the privilege of serving as the deputy president to my friend President Uhuru Kenyatta for the last 10 years. It’s an honour that I cherish. I am the only Kenyan who has served as an elected DP under the new Constitution and I thank God for you

“As you head to retirement, may God give you every aspiration of your heart,” the DP said.
