DJ Evolve’s father breaks silence on Babu Owino’s acquittal of attempted murder charge

Popular city deejay Felix Orinda, alias DJ Evolve’s father, Mr John Orinda has broken his silence following Embakasi East MP Babu Owino’s acquittal in an attempted murder case pitting his son.

Speaking to The Standard, Orinda states that as a family, they opted for an out-of-court settlement with the lawmaker with his son’s best interest at heart.

“People have the right to voice their opinion. For me, my son’s well-being overrides all other issues. I know that there are people who would wish to see Babu Owino in jail. But, what would we gain if he is sent to prison and my son dies?” Orinda said.

Orinda dismissed claims that money had influenced the family’s decision to drop the case.

“I hear some people claiming that I exchanged my son’s case for money. What do they take me for? A callous man who would sell his son’s welfare?” he posed.

DJ Evolve appealed to withdraw the case in October 2020 noting that they held deliberations as a family and decided to withdraw the case so that he can concentrate on his treatment.

In the letter dated September 21, 2020, DJ Evolve’s lawyer Kenneth Mumbo noted that the pending case is affecting the DJ’s healing process due to divided attention.

“The family had been on an intense deliberation on a need to allow the complainant, Orinda to concentrate on his treatment rather than the pending case which was affecting his healing process due to divided attention,” Mumbo said.
