Deputy President William Ruto, in his tour of the United States of America, was reportedly hosted at the White House in Washington DC.
The second in command, in the Friday, March 4 meeting was accompanied by ANC leader Musalia Musadai among other delegates.
According to Ruto’s campaign secretariat head of communications Hussein Mohamed, the DP held a closed-door meeting with US government officials where they discussed strategic partnerships between the country and Kenya.
Notably, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leader received a lowkey reception devoid of the fanfare and official protocol that would characterise an official visit to White House.
On Friday, March 3, the internet erupted with speculations that Ruto was not hosted at the White House as claimed.
According to DP Ruto’s critics, the second-in-command was was hosted at Eisenhower and not the White House as alleged.
A section of tweeps inferred that posts by DP Ruto’s media man Hussein Mohamed was misleading:

Pauline Njoroge said: “If you are visiting Eisenhower building which is adjacent to the White House, can you claim that you are visiting the White House?”
Donald Kipkorir said: “Deputy President & his delegation go for a tour of Eisenhower Building then post fake news that it was White House. Every tourist is free to visit US government buildings including the White House. But meeting US Senior officials is public & not closed door.”
Abraham Mutai said: Wow! this is extremely embarrassing even for the standards of the DP William Ruto. First of all, the Car was not allowed to enter the white H. They walked in through public gate as tourists who normally tour the White House. Then were not even allowed to film inside! desperation.
Amakanji Thomas said: We will debunk this false! Eisenhower Building is where Ruto was hosted. It is like saying you will be hosted in Harambee House but end up in the Treasury building adjacent to the former, Ruto walked in via the rare gate not even the main entrance. Prove me wrong.”
Ngugi waChege said: “Someone please remind The DP that Eisenhower Executive Office Building isn’t the White House. This is very embarrassing.”
During the US visit, the DP has unleashed a scating attack on President Uhuru, painting a picture of one who condones corruption in government.
