Cyrus Oguna: Gov’t spokesperson reacts to incident where man blocked Uhuru’s motorcade

The government has reacted to an incident where an unidentified man jumped in front of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s motorcade in Lucky Summer, Nairobi.

Reacting to the incident that happened on Wednesday, May 26, the government through its spokesperson, Cyrus Oguna said it was not a security threat as the man was happy to see the Head of State.

“On 26 May 2021, an individual stepped in front of the Presidential motorcade during the President’s tour at Lucky Summer, Nairobi County,” wrote Oguna on Twitter.

He added;

“The individual is a citizen who was only excited to see the motorcade His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta. We wish to alay any fears that the President’s security was under threat.”

The man in question was among residents who had gathered around Gathecia to witness the Head of State as he made his way from Neema slaughterhouse.

The Lucky Summer incident was the second in under one week, in the first incident, a man in the crowd tried to reach Uhuru during the official opening of Lamu Port.

The man tried to reach the Head of State while he was giving his speech, forcing Uhuru’s bodyguards to intercept him.
