COVID-19: 271 test positive, 686 discharged as confirmed cases surpass 30,000-mark

Kenya’s COVID-19 confirmed cases now stands at 30,120, after 271 people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Health indicated that the new cases were recorded from 3,746 samples tested under the same period.

Out of the new cases, 268 are Kenyans while 3 are foreigners, with 170 being men, and 101 women.

The youngest case was a 8-month-old infant while the oldest is an 86-year-old.

Also, the Ministry announced 686 discharges, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 16,656.

60 were discharged from various facilities. while 626 under the home-based care.

Unfortunately, 2 patients succumbed to the virus, bringing total fatalities from to 474.

In terms of distribution, Nairobi (126), Busia (14), Kirinyaga (13), Machakos (12), Narok (12), Kiambu (11), Kajiado (10), Kitui (10), Nakuru (10), Kisumu (8), Samburu (8), Garissa (8), Mombasa (6), Nyeri (4), Trans-Nzoia (4), Taita Taveta (3), Lamu (3), Kakamega (2), Kisii (2), Bungoma (1), Kilifi (1), Makueni (1), Murang’a (1), and Siaya (1).

In Nairobi County, Westlands led with 16 cases, Kamukunji (14), Ruaraka (11), Kasarani (9), Lang’ata (9), Roysambu (9), Embakasi West (7), Starehe (7), Dagoretti South (6), Embakasi East (6), Makadara (6), Dagoretti North (5), Embakasi South (5), Kibra (5), Embakasi Central (4), Embakasi North (4) and Mathare (3).
