Cop Arrested For Abandoning KCSE Exam Centre To Conduct Chang’aa Raid

A police officer in Kimngoror, Nandi County was on Tuesday, March 15 arrested for abandoning a school where he had been assigned to watch over the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations. 

The officer, constable Daniel Leteipa who is stationed at Kamungei Police Post went missing from the examination centre at around noon. 

He was overseeing exams at Koiban Secondary School. 

A police report details that Leteipa left the school and proceeded to a homestead near the school and started searching for chang’aa.

The commotion at the homestead caught the attention of other villagers who flocked Emmanuel Kipkoech’s home threatening to batter the officer. 

After getting wind of what was going on, a local chief alerted officers at Chepterwai Police Station who rushed to the scene and arrested Leteipa. 

“Upon interrogation, the officer was unable to give a sustainable account as to why he had left the exam centre and who had assigned him illicit liquor operations,” the police statement read.

The officer was disarmed and handed over to the County’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) department for further actions.
