Citizen TV apologises to VDJ Jones after mistaking him for slain DJ Mike Kay

Citizen TV was on Monday, May 3 forced to apologise to popular singer and disc jokey VDJ Jones for using his pictures while referring to his close friend DJ Mike Kay who died.

During the Citizen TV 7pm live bulletin use Jones photos while covering a murder story insinuating that he instead of Dj Mike Kay was found killed and his body dumped in Murang’a County.

Following the incident, VDJ Jones through his social media pages, distanced himself from the report disclosing that he was alive.

He went ahead and threatened to sue the TV station and the reporter who created the report.

I wish to disassociate myself from this report by Citizen TV Nipashe News. I am alive and kicking. I will press charges against Citizen TV and the reporter Gatete Njoroge,” Jones stated.

After the mistake that caused a stir, Citizen TV apologised stating that they used the images unintentional and was not in any way meant not harm the reputation of the DJ.

“This is why we’re starting this story with an apology because during our earlier broadcast at 7 pm we inadvertently used the wrong pictures of VDJ Jones while making reference to DJ Mike Kay.

“We have reached out to VDJ Jones and apologized as well,” News anch Trevor Ombija apologised on behalf of the station.
