Catholic Priest Reportedly Shoots Self Dead While Cleaning Gun

A Zambian priest has died after reportedly shooting himself. 

Reverend Father Kenan Chibawe of the Catholic Diocese of Monzo  died after his gun discharged while he was cleaning it. 

The incident happened on Thursday morning, April 21.

Confirming his death, Monze Diocese Apostolic Administrator Father Francesco Airoldi eulogised the late as a hardworking servant and he will greatly be missed.

“For details, we will keep you posted as funeral arrangements are being made,” Father Francesco said. 

Reports show Rev. Chibawe was born on 18th October 1971 and was ordained priest on 14th August 1999. 

Until his death, he served in many parishes as Assistant Priest and Parish Priest.

At the time of his death he has been the Parish Priest of Holy Cross parish in Namwala.
