A butcher who served President Uhuru Kenyatta at his nyama choma joint in Kenyatta Market during the several visits by the head of state has renamed his hotel.
Coincidentally, the Head of State has visited Peter Mwangi’s joint twice in 2017 and recently.
During the 2017 visit, Uhuru was accompanied by ex-Nairobi governor Mike Sonko, Senator Johnson Sakaja and former Woman Rep Rachel Shebesh.
On Wednesday, March 15, the Head of State made an impromptu visit to Kenyatta Market to inspect a facelift project and made his way to Mwangi’s joint after inspecting the project.
Mwangi recalled the moment Uhuru came to his hotel.
“We were happy on that day when we saw him. We just had lots of noise but we didn’t know what was going on. Suddenly, we saw the president alighting from the vehicle
“We are always ready every time and prepared to host whoever comes. When he (Uhuru) comes, his meat is not laced with pepper. He loves it without so much spices,” he said.
Since Uhuru’s visits, Mwangi noted that his business has been buzzing and it became a preferred joint for visitors thus the decision to rename it, Ikulu Ndogo.
As earlier reported, a car washer at Nairobi’s Kenyatta Market has recalled his brief encounter with President Uhuru Kenyatta and how he had planned to make a killing out of the meeting.
Uhuru parked his luxurious guzzler near Kennedy Maina’s car wash instantly attracting his attention.
He approached the vehicle to ask if he could wash it but to his surprise, Uhuru alighted from the driver’s side.
“I told him ‘niaje Uhunye’, then we fist-bumped. I then asked him if we could wash his vehicle but he neither said yes nor no. He just walked to the butchery and I figured he must be very hungry,” Maina said.
Maina said that if he had gotten a chance to wash Uhuru’s machine, he would have charged him KSh 1 billion, arguing that it is because he could easily afford it.
