Wine had left Uganda for the US via Qatar on Wednesday, September 22 to attend party activities including the Uganda Action Day and NUP Convention.

However, when he got to Doha, he was informed by the airport officials that he had in South Africa less than a week ago yet it is an COVID-19 hotspot and so he cannot travel to the US.

“Apparently, there are still COVID-19 related restrictions for anyone who has been in South Africa from proceeding to the US until after two weeks

“Unfortunately, we failed to detect this earlier from our end. Airport officials at the Entebbe in Uganda were also unaware of this development so they did not advise us appropriately,” wrote the MP.

Wine, however, noted that the planned activities would go on as planned since the Ugandan opposition party is represented by several leaders who are already in the US.
