Nairobi ex-governor Mike Sonko has offered to help a Bungoma woman who went viral on Friday, April 2.
The woman, Beatrice Makokha is struggling with a health condition that made her breathing and vision difficult as she has a growth that has covetede her entire face.
Through his social media pages, Sonko offered to help Makokha get a medical cover that will facilitate her surgery in India.
“I’m appealing to the Star to help Beatrice open a fund for her medical assistance so that myself and other well-wishers contribute funds to ensure she gets proper medical attention,” Sonko stated
Soy MP Caleb Kositany also asked that a Paybill number be established to allow Makokha to get all the medical help she needs.
According to a report by The Star newspaper, Makokha narrated that the growth began as a mild pain above her eye in January, 2000.
“It felt like my eye was being stabbed with a knife, and I just couldn’t stop rubbing it. The rubbing would slowly get intense and vigorous until my eye turned red,” she explained.
The growth grew bigger forcing her to visit Kitale Referral Hospital where doctors did a scan, but the results showed no problem with her eye and head.
Her condition worsened forcing her to go to hospital yet again after which she was referred to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
However, Makokha did not manage to travel to Eldoret as she had no money forcing her to seek services from a private hospital.
At the hospital, she was checked and diagnosed with a rare medic condition.
“I have difficulties in breathing. I can only breathe through one nostril. At night, I sleep on the right side because on the left side of the swelling makes breathing worse,” she said.
