Basilio Ngunjiri: Albert Gacheru’s brother dies 2 days after his death

Basilio Ngunjiri wa Kiarie, brother to the Late popular musician Albert Gacheru has died.

Ngunjiri’s demise was confirmed on Thursday,April 8 by a family member and announced by the Nation.

The 69-year-old passed away while receiving treatment at a hospital in Ol Kalou.

According to the standard, The late’s brother Julius Ngunjiri revealed that his brother had developed Covid-19 symptoms days before he died.

My brother had just received the Covid-19 jab at a local health centre on Tuesday last week. Prior to that, he had Covid-like symptoms that got worse this week. His death is another blow to the entire family that is yet to come to terms with the death of our brother Albert Gacheru,” Julius told Standard.

This comes just two days after his musician brother Albert Gacheru passed away.

Albert Gacheru was confirmed dead on Tuesday, March 6.

It is reported the the famed singer was admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital following a long illness.

Gacheru topped the music industry and became known widely in the 1990s with his popular song dubbed Mwendwa wakwa Mariru.

The late’s other top songs include; Mumunya, Hurry Hurry Waithera, Nindaguteire and Indo Ciakwa.

Gacheru became popular with his songs both locally and International having performed his songs at a foreign station voice of America among others.
