Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has broken his silence after being acquitted in DJ Evolve’s attempted murder case.
In a rulling delivered on Tuesday, December 14, Magistrate Bernard Ochoi accepted an application by the entertainer to withdraw the case.
The magistrate noted that Babu and DJ Evolve were friends prior to the incident and he maintained the relationship after the unfortunate incident.
Speaking with a local publication, the lawmaker did not speak much about the new development, however, thanking God for the acquittal.
“Yes! God is faithful,” he stated.
Babu Owino was arrested and charged after allegedly shooting DJ Evolve in Nairobi’s popular entertainment, B-Club on January, 16 2020.
The DJ was fatally shot on the neck in the shooting incident that left him paralysed.
DJ Evolve appealed to withdraw the case in October 2020 noting that they held deliberations as a family and decided to withdraw the case so that he can concentrate on his treatment.
In the letter dated September 21, 2020, the lawyer added that the pending case is affecting the DJ’s healing process due to divided attention.
“The family had been on an intense deliberation on a need to allow the complainant, Orinda to concentrate on his treatment rather than the pending case which was affecting his healing process due to divided attention,” Mumbo said.
