Armed and Dangerous: DCI Releases Photos of Man Behind Mirema Springs Shooting Incident

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has revealed the identity of a man behind the murder of Samuel Mugo Muvota in Mirema Springs.

In an update on social media, DCI linked the fatal shooting of Mugo to one, Dennis Karani Gachoki.

DCI says the suspect is armed and dangerous, adding that he is in possession of a gun that he snatched from a police officer in Mombasa.

“The armed and dangerous man is suspected to be in possession of a firearm that was snatched from a stupefied Police officer, after a round of drinks at a popular joint in Mombasa, in November 2020,” the DCI said.

According to the DCI, Gachoki has become difficult to arrest since he is working with rogue police officers who tip him when an operation has been launched.

“Efforts by detectives to arrest him have been futile since the thug who is well-loaded influences rogue cops who tip him off once an operation for his arrest has been launched,” the DCI added.

Gachoki is said to have fallen out with Mugo over proceeds of their ‘business’.

DCI stated that the suspect might have crossed to a neighboring country.

Mugo was attacked and shot dead shortly after dropping a woman and her child in the area.

According to a CCTV footage widely shared on social media, the assailant is seen walking on the footpath where Mugo would be later killed.

The assailant is seen walking with a man believed to be his accomplice but he later disappeared as the latter continued to talk on his phone.

A few minutes later, a Toyota Premio appeared and blocked the way as Mugo’s car, a Honda CRV, drove towards the assailant.
