Another journalist has left the Standard Media Group (SMG) barely a day after KTN News anchor Linda Oguttu announced she was taking a sabbatical leave.
David Odongo revealed on Facebook that he had resigned from the Mombasa Road-based media station due to unknown reasons, however, reports allege tensions at the media house.
Odongo had worked for SMG for four years across different roles before moving to Mediamax Networks where he worked for four months as a digital editor for the People Daily newspaper.
He then returned to Standard Media Group where he wrote for the weekly Nairobian newspaper for four years as a senior journalist.
He then rose to a senior investigative journalist at the newspaper for two years before serving as its senior multimedia reporter for the weeklies for three months.
His resignation comes after Oguttu announced her sabbatical leave after sources alleged that she was asked to choose between remaining at the media house and serving the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) as its secretariat.
Oguttu announced on social media that she had begun to take her leave, but did not state for how long.
“Personal news. I have taken a sabbatical leave from Standard Group Limited to serve in the FKF Secretariat. Tukutane kwa futa. And mask up and get vaccinated. Hii Covid haitaki mchezo,” she shared on Twitter.
The media house announced a wave of changes following the launch of its multi-million shilling converged newsroom and rebranding of its TV station KTN News.
