Tanzanian musician Ali Kiba’s wife, Amina Khalef has filed for divorce at the Mombasa Kadhi’s court citing stress and neglect.
According to reports, Amina filed the petition on January 8, 2021 close to four years after getting married.
The two married in a glamorous Islamic wedding on April 19, 2018 and proceeded to live as a couple in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania shortly before Amina relocated back to Kenya.
The petition stated that Amina moved out of their matrimonial home in October 2018, four months after their wedding due to consistent misunderstandings with Ali Kiba.
Amina was pregnant with their firstborn son at the time.
In the petition, the mother of two demanded KSh 200,000 monthly upkeep for their two children, noting that Ali Kiba has not been providing for her and their children.
Amina states that maintenance provided by the musician is insufficient and it would come after a back and forth.
She noted that the marriage was broken and there is no room for reconciliation, noting that she has tried reaching out to Ali Kiba but he has been unwilling and unresponsive.
This comes days after Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho’s wife, Madina Giovanni Fazzini, filed for divorce at the Kadhi’s court.
Joho is a close ally of Ali Kiba.
In her court papers, Fazzini states that their 11-year-old marriage had broken down irretrievably with no chance of revival given that both parties had moved on with their lives.
The mother of two says she got married to the second-term governor in February 2011 and they were blessed with the children who are now aged nine and eight.
Fazzini said that she had lived with the governor from the onset of their marriage in 2011 until 2013 when they moved to separate quarters.
She further states that in June 2013, the flamboyant governor moved out of their matrimonial home.
