The Alchemist Bar has been on the receiving end for the past one week over alleged racism.
This is after a video emerged on social media depicting a black man in a white t-shirt being turned away from a queue at the entrance of the Westlands based entertainment joint.
In the clip that was shared by a tweep identified as Murgor, the revellers were in two lines, one with predominantly white customers and the other with mostly blacks.
Murgor, in turn, accused the club of turning away the black man, sparking outrage that culminated in the club closing its doors to allow investigations.
Man changes statement, defends bar
However, Murgor has now retracted his earlier remarks admitting that he misinterpreted the clip.
In a statement shared by the bar, the man acknowledged that it was misleading and not the true representation of what happened on the fateful day.
“The clip that I shared made an impression that there was racial bias practised at the Alchemist. That was never the case. After reviewing the full footage of the evening and even from the experience inside I can attest The Alchemist embraces diversity and have in fact zero tolerance towards racism,” he was quoted in the statement.

The man in turn apologised to the establishment for the damage caused urging it to retain all its initial staff when it will resume business.
The man also urged netizens to stop attacking and threatening the bar on their social media platforms.
He disclosed that his legal team and that of Alchemist had agreed that they were not going to press any charges.
GOTTA.news has learnt that the club is set to be re-opened again following successful negotiations.
