Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has dismissed claims that her daughter is dead.
On Saturday, May 22 rumours emerged on social media indicating that the lawmaker’s daughter had committed suicide.
However, while attending a ceremony in Malindi, Jumwa said her family was safe and sound including her daughter who was at the center of death rumours.
“There is a post doing rounds on social media about a girl that is alleged to have committed suicide in school. In the post, netizens are claiming that the girl is my daughter. I want to categorically state that my daughter is doing well,” she said.
Photos of a girl resembling Jumwa’s daughter emerged online accompanying with messages indicating that she had committed suicide.
However, reports from Ghana media houses indicated that the girls was a Ghanaian who was a student at Miracles Senior High School.
The 16-year-old was found hanging from the ceiling of the school dining hall by her classroom on May 17, 2021.
