Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi and Professor Makau Mutua recently engaged in a heated Twitter spat over claims that Deputy President William Ruto would spend over KSh 100 million during his tour of the US, UK and Qatar.
In an update on Twitter, Mutua castigated the DP over claims of an alleged ribbon of the August 9 General Elections while his tour was fully funded by taxpayers.
“A sitting deputy president travels to the US and tells American officials his government is planning to rig the August 9 elections. He asks Americans to stop Nairobi from rigging the elections. The DP and his 40-person junket are funded to the tune of $1 million (KSh 100 million) by taxpayers,” Mutua wrote.
Following the remarks, Ahmednasir, perceived support of DP Ruto sarcastically told off Mutua in a statement where he simply asked what he would do.
“Utado?,” he wrote.
This comes barely a week after DP Ruto arrived in the US.
The second in command landed at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, USA in the early morning of Monday, February 28 ahead of his meetings in the US and later in the United Kingdom.
On arrival, DP Ruto was received by a section of his supporters in the US who offered him a bouquet of flowers as they sing the ‘Naiwe Shangwe’ song.
